“The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
(John 14:21, 27 NIV)
Do you see the strong connection between these two verses? Verse 27 flows out of verse 21. The Father loves you. That’s where your peace comes from. Jesus loves you. As He shows Himself to you, that’s where your peace comes from. When you get to know someone who loves you more than His own life, you come to know peace personified. You come to rest in the arms of the Prince of Peace.
Jesus gives you His peace. It is markedly unlike the surface-deep peace the world has to offer. The cheap version of peace found in this world is fleeting, circumstantial, and external. The peace that Jesus gives you, the world cannot take it away. It flows out of the immovable, unchangeable nature of His covenant love for you.
His love can never be taken away from you. His covenant care for you can never be shaken or removed. This is where your unshakable peace comes from. This is why you can live out Jesus’ instructions, ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (v. 27).

“This is what the Lord says: ‘I will give her peace that will flow to her like a river’’ (Isa. 66:12, NCV).
Have you had a deep drink from God’s river of peace today?
Such calming passages!!

Yes, actually. Friday morning may well be my favorite time of the week, as I am able to sit in a quiet church for at least an hour (usually more) and just be still, bringing matters to the Lord as needed, or allowing Him to give me whatever message I need to hear. And a good thing, too– the rest of the day was kinda rowdy. But it’s done, and God is good 🙂

We’re slowly starting to see more cleared lots here and there. A necessary first step toward rebuilding. We’re living through a historic moment; it will be a long journey and a cross to bear. But if we keep reaching toward Him, God will help us see it done.

Amen, yes He will. I was talking to one of my daugthers recently about how God sometimes has to tear down before He can rebuild things correctly. My mental picture of your community reminds me of that truth. May He continue to minister His strength, comfort, and grace to each one of you through the long process, holding you all in His arms of love.

Yes, true peace–the only real peace because we can have it regardless of circumstances; it’s like joy in that regard, as we’ve communicated about before.
