Kingdom Power Flowing Through… Yes, You!

“For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power” (1 Cor. 4:20, ESV).

What an impactful verse! In essence, it tells us that if we are going to represent His Kingdom well, we need to not just talk about it, but to demonstrate it with tangible manifestations of His power. He has us called to lead supernatural lives. But what happens if we don’t? If our lives look mostly like everyone else’s lives, what will draw people to Jesus?

For this very reason, He has given us His Spirit: that we might live lives of supernatural peace, supernatural joy, supernatural love, and supernatural power. His purpose is that our daily living would stand out as radically different from the world around us… in such a compelling way that the lost would be drawn to His radiantly beautiful light. Never has this been more true than right now.

Here is some comforting news. This is not a matter of “yes” or “no,” of “got it” or “don’t got it.” It’s not a question of “those people who are mighty in the Spirit,” versus “those who can’t walk in His power.” Rather, all of us – every single last one of us – are somewhere on a growth curve.

From my amazing mother-in-love, who has raised two people from the dead, to the precious new Christian who is just learning to take baby steps in the faith, we all have so far to go. There is always room for growth in living a supernatural lifestyle. I have never raised anyone from the dead. But I see that Jesus says it’s possible for me in Matthew 10:8. That’s where I have set my sights! I won’t be satisfied with anything less than continual growth on this growth curve!

The Father doesn’t mean for us to be intimidated by the idea. On the contrary, with great affection and tenderness and patience, He invites us to simply begin where we are.

Have you never prayed for a sick person? Then maybe your growth curve looks like stepping out in faith and trying it (Jesus is definitely not impeded by the six feet of distance requirement. He healed people in other locations without even being there). Have you never fasted? Maybe it looks like exploring new territory in that area. Ask the Father in what practical ways He wants you to grow in the power He has made available to us. What new step would He invite you to take?

The beautiful thing is, there is never, ever, ever any condemnation for where we are in our process of development. The Author and Finisher of our faith is utterly loving with us as we move along our growth curve. He takes our hand and leads us with encouragement the entire way. Gently, with nurturing warmth, He beckons us to take the next step forward. He is so eager for us to see, experience, and walk in what He has prepared for our inheritance!

Yes, supernatural lives are, indeed, the inheritance He purchased for us with His blood. The enemy is terrified of what could happen if we all begin to move in what is ours: the power of God. His power shatters the chains of darkness in people’s lives. His power opens their eyes so they can see Him. His power liberates people to, in turn, live their own supernatural lives and see more and more cherished souls set free! For this reason, the father of deceit tries so hard to convince you and me that we are not fit to walk in this power. Let’s not give him the satisfaction of listening to his lies.

Think about this. The only place Jesus could not move in the fullness of God’s power was in His hometown. Why? “And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief” (Matt. 13:58, ESV). There it is: their unbelief. They closed up their hearts and refused to believe. They would not give Him heart space to do what He deeply delights to do, heal and restore broken lives.

May we not follow their example. What if we do give Him that heart space? What if the power of God flowed through our hands when we laid them on the sick? What if they recovered, just like the Bible promises? What if we spread supernatural hope and joy and peace wherever we walked? What if every interaction we ever had on social media infused someone with the love of God? What if our lives looked so much like Jesus’ earthly life that those who came into contact with us got to know the Father… by getting to know us?

The power of Jesus’ presence is infinitely more contagious than any disease that ever existed. When we make ourselves available as vessels of Holy Spirit’s flow, this mighty contagion will jump on everyone we meet. The exponential domino effect will be unstoppable. Wherever we go, all over the globe, perfect love will wipe out fear. As we give space in our lives for His Kingdom to manifest through us, we will see our world transformed. We will see His Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven.

“And these signs will accompany those who believe… (Mark 16:17, ESV, emphasis mine).

“…Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know… what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe… (Eph. 1:18-19, ESV, emphasis mine).

*********************************************

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12, ESV, emphasis mine).

What did Jesus mean by this?

  1. Jennifer, so many “believers” live in the shadow of doubt ! Does this mean no miracles are available through them ? I think not ! Thinking back to the season when I was incarsarated [behind-bars] YES Isolated from society ! I observed miracles every day. I watched in awe, as Spirit moved in me and drew those who I did not know to ask questions about the peace and joy they saw in my circumstances. Never, in my walk before did I “see” the power of Christ’s presence in and around me. These same and more miracles are available to all who are now isolated due to this crisis. I say, step out as never before. Take advantage of EVERY opportunity where we see people in fear and anxity. Tell them while they have ears to listen to the true. Give thanks in all things. Len, a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
