Old Treasures on Tuesdays š
Talk about supernatural food! This bread that the angel fed Elijah moved him from a place of debilitating depression, to one of hyper strength. The energy in that cake was enough for a journey over a month long!
Did you know that God wants to feed you supernatural food too? It may not look like a cake of bread cooked over hot coals, though.Ā āMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of GodāĀ (Matt. 4:4, NKJV). What He wants to feed you is His word. The Greek for āwordā in this verse isĀ rhema, which means the utterance of God. He wants to feed you His utterances. He wants to empower you by speaking to your heart.
At the start of the day, God has a personal word for you. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you. He will communicate intimately with you. He will nourish you with His words. He will feed you⦠Himself.Ā āI am the bread of life⦠He who feeds on Me will live because of MeāĀ (John 6:35a, 57b, NKJV).
God loves to satisfy His sons and daughters. He fed bread from heaven to His children living under the old covenant. āYet He had⦠opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angelsā food; He sent them food to the fullāĀ (Ps. 78:23-25, NKJV).
We are no longer under the law as they were. We have entered into the new, superior covenant in His precious blood. His very Spirit indwells our bodies. How much more, then, under this covenant, will He now fill us to the full?
Jesus revealed Himself asĀ livingĀ bread from heaven.Ā HeĀ is our bread.Ā HeĀ is our miraculous provision. When He instructed us to pray, āGive us our daily bread,ā He meant for us to ask, each morning, to be fed with new portions of Him: of His very self, of His very heart.
If manna was angelsā food⦠and what the angel fed Elijah gave him the power to travel for forty days⦠how much more will feeding on Jesus strengthen you for the day ahead? Supernatural food awaits you.Ā āGet up and eat.ā

Have you experienced a sense of being fed supernaturally, as you draw near to God?

Amen and Amen that fulfills the words of Jesus to the Samaritan woman ‘if you drink from my well you will thirst no more’….What manner of food can sustain a human being for 40days yo!!š¤£š¤£I’d rather get that food and stay satisfied for daysš¤£anyway let me share this story with you. I grew up in a very staunch christian home and we were forced to go into fastingš¤£that’s how I felt𤣠because my mum gave all the food from the fridge and freezer to the homeless and the house stayed empty without food for the number of days we were fasting. And then we were to wait until my dad confirms it’s time to break the fast. Oh how we waited for my dad to leave his room and allow us to break the fastš¤£š¤£š¤£that was tough!! Anyway it was on one occasion when I felt I was too tired to continue fasting and I felt I was going to die that I fell on my tummy and cried to God to send me food like Elijah, what followed was a deep sleep then in my sleep I drank hot milk and six queen cakes š¤£š¤£š¤£so funny and I woke up strong for the rest of the days of fastingš¤£š¤£God is still in the business of feeding His people spiritually.

1 Kings 19 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible, and the Lord’s provision for weary, hungry Elijah is part of it. I’m so grateful for the Bible, our spiritual (supernatural, from God) food!
