A Mother’s Prayers: Son Safe After Stabbing

Jima had been crying out to God for years for her son Daniel. Without a dad in his life, he was lost. Looking for belonging, he had gotten in with the wrong crowd. He then became ensnared in substance abuse and stealing. Jima’s heart ached, watching him fall deeper and deeper into that pit of darkness. Each time she gently tried to point him to Jesus, he only snapped at her.

As a church, we fast together every Saturday morning. Jima was unfailingly present at these gatherings. She kept calling upon the name of Jesus for Daniel. We also hold a three day fasting retreat each month out at our jungle Missions School. Jima didn’t miss a single one of them either. She was determined to see Heaven’s intervention in her boy’s life.

However, Daniel’s oppression only worsened. Year after year went by. Only Heaven knows just how many tears coursed down her cheeks during that time. Again and again, she would fall on her knees for him.

Then one day, the unthinkable happened. Jima received news that caused her heart to sink with dread. Daniel had been stabbed during a fight. Overcome with emotion, she rushed to his side.

Miraculously, not one of his organs had been damaged. What relief overflowed her soul when the doctor pronounced this news! With a long look at Daniel, she spoke to him tenderly. “God is trying to get your attention, son,” she said. Jima had now been interceding for him for six years. The breakthrough had finally arrived.

As soon as he was able, Daniel came to church with her. That very day, he gave his life to Jesus. Jima will never forget that moment. At the altar, Apostle Jose held Daniel close, praying over him. The love of the Father poured into Daniel’s heart, filling the void left by his dad. He had never received a father’s hug before that moment. It changed him. Truly, that day he became a new creation.

To top matters off… Jima had also been praying for employment for two years. This same month, she found a job! She is now in a place of authority working for the government. She immediately began using her position to proclaim the gospel to the officials she is working with.

My friend, have you, too, been battling in prayer over some critical needs? Don’t give up. The Lord has collected every one of your tears in His bottle (Ps. 56:8). He has heard every one of your prayers. Be assured, your answer is on the way!

  1. Prayer is powerful. Not one prayer of her intercepting on her sons behalf was in vain. Our Father hears our cries. He’s so very good and faithful. Moving story and encouraging in our walk with Christ. Blessings

  2. Praying and waiting on God is so hard, especially when those we love struggle without Jesus in their life. But I have seen that God’s timing is perfect. He does see our tears and hears our prayers. We need to trust Him. Thanks for this encouraging post of hope.

  4. Hallelujah! I too thank you for sharing Daniel’s encouraging story. Praise God for turning his heart of stone to a heart of flesh; praise God for supplying Jima’s need of a job. He IS our faithful, promise-keeping God!

  5. So blessed by this greatly encouraging testimony. Persevering in prayer. Standing on faith no matter the physical. Refusing to give up.
    Thank you Jesus for answering.. no matter how long it sometimes takes. Much is gained during the contending periods.
