“Pastora, I feel like the love I used to have for my husband has died.” Maria, one of the missions school students, was pouring out her hurt to me about a marriage which had brought her much grief. Before she was married, there was a time in her life when she was not serving the Lord and had a child out of wedlock.

The young man who would become her husband, Diego, seemed to care for her son, Juanito. She felt safe to marry a Christian who loved her little one as well as her. Sadly, soon into the marriage he started badly mistreating Juanito and Maria, expressing outright hatred for the boy. Diego and Maria came back into town for the new semester in April, but I did not get a chance to speak with Maria for a while. Just this last month, it was Diego’s turn to ask for prayer, together with one of his classmates. With tears in his eyes, Diego told me that he had destroyed his marriage with his harsh words, but after the prayer time Maria and I had together, the Lord had put a new, powerful love in Continue reading A Marriage Back from the Dead
