The Word of Your Testimony Is Growing

“They overcame [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” (Rev. 12:11, NKJV).

During a conversation with a dear friend recently, she shared with me at length about some of her current battles. As I listened to her, I thought, What growing pains we endure sometimes as we go through life!

“However,” she remarked thoughtfully, “I am experiencing the overcoming the Bible describes as coming by the word of our testimony. At this point in my journey, I have seen Daddy God coming through for me over and over in unmistakable ways. I know from experience that I will get through this struggle too, with His help.”

Her reflective processing struck me as powerful insight into our Scripture for today. Once my friend gets to the end of this particular trial, she will be able to declare triumphantly: “I overcame [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony!”

What is the word of her testimony? It’s this: she has now accumulated enough personal history with Jesus that she knows firsthand the way He consistently intervenes for her. She can point to countless unforgettable outcomes of His faithfulness along her own journey. She has lived it. No one, and no devil, can take this heart knowledge away from her.

The more we walk with Jesus, the more the word of our testimony grows. This happens as we get to know for our very own selves how reliable He is. This is how we overcome the accuser. Next time the enemy tries to bring lying accusations against God’s character to us, those lies will fall to the ground, null and void. We know better. We have tasted and seen and known that the Lord is good. Just like He always has, He will lead us through our current battle in victory… and the next, and the next, until He takes us home!

Can you remember a time when your past experience of God’s faithfulness helped bolster your faith for a new set of battles?

  1. My experiences of life …….. Many bowling balls of problems health and personal ‘other’ kept coming but in the midst of it ALL it was always my Lord who helped me so nothing ‘took me out’, We all must continue to stand in HIM.

    1. I am thanking Him with you for carrying you through. This Scripture comes to mind:

      Even to your old age and gray hairs
      I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
      I have made you and I will carry you;
      I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
