“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 18:19, KJV, emphasis mine).
This verse has been stirring in my heart today. I feel Holy Spirit’s emphasis on the word “touching.” I believe that this contains a gem of revelation for us about prayer.
Sometimes we overcomplicate the idea of praying. Daddy wants us to keep it simple. Remember, He has called us to childlikeness. Children are not complicated in the way they make requests of their parents. When the parents have nurtured their child according to God’s design, spontaneous and deep trust results. The little one simply approaches her parents with innocent expectation, expressing her need. This is how we are to pray.
“Touching any thing they shall ask.” Touching — what is a godly touch? It is contact between two beings, in a soft and gentle way. When you pray, simply reach out with your faith and touch Daddy. With one hand, touch your petition, your need. With the other, touch Him. Touch Him with the innocent anticipation of a child who knows her Father will, of course, meet all her needs. Through this trusting point of contact, a transaction happens. He receives your request. Know that He has heard you with all the immense love of His heart, and His answer is on the way.
When we pray this way, it’s much easier to incorporate these moments with Daddy into our daily routines. As soon as anything comes to our mind that is a need, we pause for a moment. We gently reach out and touch Him with that request. Then we continue on with the current activity occupying our attention, light hearted because the One who loves us more than His own life has heard us. As the day progresses, we do this again and again. This is how we live out the instruction, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17).
As we contemplate these matters, let’s take our cue from the woman with the issue of blood. “She said to herself, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed’” (Matt. 9:21, NIV). Reach out and touch Him today. That is all that you need. His power will flow into you when you do so!

What do you understand about the dynamics of this Scripture: “God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them” (Acts 19:11-12, NIV)? Have you ever felt power flow into you when someone laid hands on you to pray?

God’s touch is sweet, delicate and gentle. I have to make sure I do t kids His touch because of my everyday worldly things, His touch is impeccable

Several years ago during the summer break between university years I desperately needed a job to make ends meet until my student loan payments started up again. One evening when our bible study group was supposed to meet, most people are unable to make it. I was a little disheartened but went along, taking my request for a job and am open heart along with me. The other two there, a recently married couple, led a simple short study and then we prayed. They each put a hand on my shoulder and an overwhelming sense of calm overcame me.
Within the next few days I received a call about a job which ran the months I needed between university ending and starting up again. The people there were some of the best I’ve worked with and the skills I learned have helped me in every job since!
Hallelujah and amen! Seek and with God’s grace ye shall always find what he knows we need. 🌟

Beautiful post. I think simple touch of warmth, encouragement and connection is the thing most of us are most lacking during this year of social distancing restrictions. We can touch the Lord, but not each other. I pray the Lord will meet our needs and heal our lonely souls.
