Acquiring Swords and Sharing Victories

Our dear friend Georgia was just here visiting us last week. She has been coming down to Peru from the U.S. for decades, bringing great blessing here. On this visit, she ministered in our church about how to process the loss of a spouse. She spoke on the subject with great authority and effectiveness. The Lord used her to bring healing in quite a few of our brothers and sisters needing to hear the wisdom she brought.

How did she come up with such a message? Well, just a few years ago, she lost her husband of fifty-three years. He died suddenly of a heart attack. Holy Spirit walked her through a healing process after his loss, some of it taking place during 2020 covid isolation, no less!.

Georgia ministered to our people out of her own life’s story. After all, isn’t that the most powerful way to pour into others? As Jesus expressed, “Freely you have received; freely give” (Matt. 10:8, NIV). As He has poured into us during our times of need, we can then turn around and comfort others with the comfort we have received from Him (2 Cor. 1:4).

There is something else about this that is vitally important. When we endure through a spiritual battle until the manifestation of victory, we obtain new weapons of warfare. In whatever area where you have overcome, you gain spiritual authority in that area. You are now empowered to share the victory that you won with others who need help on their own journeys. At the same time, those weapons are going to come in handy as you face “new levels and new devils.”

Do you remember what David did when he first began to flee from Saul? He needed a weapon for the new challenges he was facing. So what did he do? He took up the weapon he had won in a previous set of challenges. He took up Goliath’s sword.

“The priest replied, ‘The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.’

“David said, ‘There is none like it; give it to me’” (1 Samuel 21:9, NIV).

The sword with which he overcame in one of the decisive battles of his life… became the sword to bring him into new levels of overcoming.

What are you facing today? Whatever it is, you too were born for overcoming. The Lord holds victory in store for you (Pr. 2:7, NIV). You overwhelmingly conquer! (Rom. 8:37 NASB). You are going to come out on the other side of this one brandishing brand new weapons of warfare. You’ll be walking in greater authority than you imagined possible.

Oh, the people that will be blessed because of your victory!

****************

Are there battles you’ve been through, that have turned into a testimony that has helped others overcome? I’d love to hear about it!

Past victories are sure armaments to rescue others in similar challenges.
