“But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be” (1 Cor. 12:18, NIV)
I want you to read that slowly, and take it into your spirit. As a born again believer in Jesus, you are now part of His body. And He has placed you just where He wants you. Unless you are specifically aware of having pulled a Jonah and deliberately run in the opposite direction of where God called you… you are exactly where you are supposed to be right now. The steps of the righteous are ordered of Him. He chose where you were born and what doors would open for you. He unfolded the path before you to lead you to where you are today.
He’s got you where He wants you! His hand has been over the time frames of your lifespan, orchestrating each detail. Specifically, He strategically placed you in His body exactly as He desired. He foreknew the vitally important role He would have you play in His unfolding plan for creation. You heard that right. Your role. Vitally important. You, your gifting, and your role are exactly that: vitally important. This same chapter emphasizes that truth. Every part of His body is entirely important to God. Not one is more important than the other.
Some of the parts, however, seem to get more attention than others. If you are one of the parts that doesn’t naturally receive as much attention, God wants to especially honor you today. He says to you that He “has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body” (vv. 24-25). If you have lacked honor, He wants to honor you today.
Do you hear His voice speaking in your heart right now? He is affirming to you how important you are to Him. He is speaking out His honor for who you are. He is telling you that He put you exactly where it most pleases Him for you to be, in His design for His body. You have something to offer that no one else on this planet does. He is so excited to watch you live out what He put inside of you. He is so glad that He made you what you are!
