Hiding in His Name

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Prov.18:10, NKJV).

Here’s a thought for you today. What does the Lord’s name represent? His identity. His nature. His character. The essence of who He is. This – His name — is your strong tower; this is your refuge. This is where you can run to and experience safety. Every time it feels like the world is shaking, this is the place you need to find. No matter what is happening, you will know in your heart how safe you are. That is, when you discover who He is; His real identity.

The amazing thing here is that He has revealed to us such a rich variety of His names in Scripture. Each one of them discloses to us a different part of His nature. Each one reveals a facet of His heart… and all the more so when we ask Him to breathe that revelation into the depths of our spirit.

Have you experienced financial strain lately? Run into His name, Jehovah Jireh, the Lord your Provider (Gen. 22:14). Ask Him for a spirit of revelation (Eph. 1:17) to know Him deeper in this way. He will communicate to your heart of hearts that you and your financial future are safe in Him.

Have you been going through discouragement? Run into His name, the God of Hope. Ask to know this part of His heart more personally. Speak, pray, and declare Scriptures like this one over yourself, believing that it’s His passionate will for you to know Him better: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 15:13, NIV).

Have you experienced rejection recently? Run into His name, Abba, Father. Ask for His spirit of adoption to minister to you; ask for deeper capacity to receive His love for you. Let your spirit cry out to Him, “Daddy!” (Rom. 8:15-16). Ask for Him to speak His Father’s blessing, His love and acceptance over you. As you learn to hide yourself in the revelation of His identity, your soul will encounter the emotional safety that you crave.

What is your need today? There is a name of God that will minister to that area of your life. Whatever you are facing, the revelation of who He is will become your safe haven in the midst of it. Run deeper into His heart!

“The righteous run into it, and they are safe.”

Has Holy Spirit been emphasizing to you recently a certain aspect of God’s nature? Has He highlighted one of His names in this process?

  1. To be patient. And when I think I have been patient long enough, to continue to practice patience. Thoughtfulness, respect, and generosity can all be shown through listening as well as proactive action. Sometimes waiting is the most beautiful thing we can do
