“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with his hand” (Ps. 37:23,24, NKJV).
Do you know that your Father enjoys watching you grow? He delights in your way. His eyes never stop watching you lovingly. You might think that your imperfect steps forward are off-putting to Him. But you would be wrong. On the contrary, He takes great pleasure in your process of learning and developing. Great pleasure.
When your heart is pointed in God’s direction, that is all it takes to fill His soul with joy. That’s just the way He is. It’s His nature. He looks at you, and He sees His kid, the child of His heart. The one He loves. And as such, He loves to watch each discovery you make on your journey. His heart thrills to see you managing new hurdles that you didn’t used to be able to navigate. He grins happily and says, “That’s my kid! Mine!”
When you come to grasp something that used to be incomprehensible to you, He celebrates your new understanding. He cheers you on as you move up to the next level of growth. He drinks in your movements and He savors each one. You are His child.
And all along the way, He is ordering and establishing your steps. Don’t worry overmuch about blunders you might make. His hand is upholding you. If you fall, He Himself will catch you. He will gently set you back on your feet with a kind, patient smile. He will brush you off and encourage you to try again. He will be rooting for you every day of your life until He takes you home!
