Daddy’s

Daddy daughter hug

“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him” (John 1:18, NKJV).

“The Word was with God.” Thus begins the beautiful book of John. Within a few verses, we learn more specifically how the Word was with God. He was, and is, and forevermore will be, in His Daddy’s bosom. Before the book will end twenty-one chapters later, Jesus the Word will have mentioned His Daddy, the passion of His being, one hundred and sixteen times.

Even the Bible’s very first recording of Jesus’ speech, at age twelve, was about His Father. Truly, His life on earth was consumed by intimacy with His Abba. This was the center from which all His powerful words and all His tender movements flowed.

Jesus was utterly absorbed with His relationship with Daddy. He could not, would not, make one single move without Him. Wrapped up together, They moved throughout each day. “Jesus gave them this answer: ‘I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does’” (John 5:19-20a, NIV). Do you see and feel the love flowing there? The bliss of perfect togetherness?

Jesus wants to live this way with you, too. “Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you” (John 15:4, MSG). You, too, can live your life wrapped up with Him. You, too, can refuse to move an inch without Him. You, too, are invited to make your home permanently in His bosom.

Sonship is at the very center of the universe. Sonship gave birth to the universe. Sonship imputes meaning to the universe. From all of eternity past, and throughout all of the endless ages to come, Jesus is in the bosom of the Father. The Godhead earnestly beckons you to join in Their union:

“At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:20, NKJV).

This is where Daddy wants to give roots to your identity. Just like Jesus. His sense of identity was exquisitely, unshakably rooted in His Sonship. His deep core knowledge of belonging to His Daddy marked every second of His existence and therefore His ministry.

How He longs to mark you this same way! “You received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Rom. 8:15b-16a, NIV).

Holy Spirit testifies. Will you let Him go deeper and deeper into your core with this testimony? Will you let Him take over your life with the beauty of its revelation? Will you let Him longingly cry through you, “Abba?”

You are His child. It’s who you are. His precious, priceless, beloved, cherished child. Respond to His invitation. Come into His open arms. Be wrapped up in His bosom. Live your life there. Be one with Him. Forever.

When you imagine the Father, what do you see with your mind’s eye?
