God’s Intense Feelings about You

Happy dance

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love” (John 15:9, NLT).

Daddy God loves Jesus. He loves Him way, way, wayyyyyyy more than you and I can even begin to fathom. With this in mind, let’s take a look at today’s verse from John. Reading Jesus’ words, can you imagine all that immeasurable depths of love directed towards… you? It is! He loves you with that same infinite amount of love. He loves you just as much as Daddy loves Him. Now that, my friend, is a thought to meditate on for as long as you can handle it! Some beauty is so overwhelmingly lovely that it’s almost too much to take in. Jesus’ love for you is like that. Even though we can’t wrap our minds around it, every day we can drink it in a little bit deeper.

Because He loves us so intensely, He is emotionally affected by our response to Him. Profoundly so. Here are a few Scriptural examples of this truth:

  • He was overcome with emotion when the unnamed woman poured her costly perfume on His head. So much so, He exclaimed that her deed would be told all over the world. “She has done a beautiful thing to me” (Mark 14:6, NIV).
  • On other occasions, His heart was saddened and disturbed. “And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart…” (Mark 3:5, ESV).
  • One of His parables gives us a glimpse into the exhilarating joy that reverberates through His soul when one precious individual turns his or her heart to Him. “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents…” (Luke 15:7, NIV).

When you think about it, it’s not overly surprising that our Creator has intense feelings that cover the whole emotional spectrum. After all, we know that He made us in His likeness. Being His image-bearers, we reflect His makeup in countless ways. Experiencing powerful emotions is one of them.

In the light of this understanding, just think about how you stir His heart when you reciprocate His love! As you drink in His tenderness towards you today a little more than yesterday, you can mirror it back to Him. “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). As He heals our hearts that we might experience the riches of His love, our natural response will be for love to well up inside of us towards Him in deep gratitude. As we give expression to that overwhelmed devotion, how we steal His heart!

“You have ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; you have ravished my heart with one look of your eyes…” (Song 4:9, NKJV).

Knowing that your affection overcomes His heart with joy and pleasure, will you love on Him today?
