Spiritual Food in Bite-Sized Pieces

 

“I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:16-19, MSG).

Yesterday we talked about how God comes to our level when we reach out to Him. He meets us exactly where we are at. Today, I want to share with you one more related thought. It’s this: this same principle applies when it comes to growing in the knowledge of His love. When we want to deepen our understanding of how much He loves us, He comes to our level then too.

Over the last year, I have been regularly asking Him, “Please, Abba, expand my capacity to receive Your love.” I have found that in answering this prayer, He comes to where I am at. I used to think I couldn’t even begin to comprehend the immensity of His love. It felt too overwhelming to try. But since then, I’ve discovered that He comes down to where I am. He spoon feeds me the amount that I can take.
