Do you have a vague, unsettling feeling – just under the surface – that God is annoyed with you?
He’s not.
1 Corinthian 13’s description of love is a description of Him, because He is love. He “is not easily irritated or quick to take offense” (1 Cor. 13:5, TPT). He’s simply not one to get annoyed. On the contrary, He’s overflowing with love for you. He can’t help it. It’s just who He is. He eagerly awaits the moment you wake up in the morning. He just can’t stop watching you with a happy heart. He thinks about you all day long.
Take a good long look at this verse: “He will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zeph. 3:17, ESV). How about you? When do you sing loudly? Isn’t it when you are full of emotion and you need to let it out? What comes to mind for me is a car ride with your favorite jam turned up to full volume. You are bouncing around in your seat as you travel forward, belting out the lyrics to that song you love so much. Pure enjoyment.
That’s God when it comes to you. He just plain enjoys you. He bursts into over-the-top singing at the sight and sound of you.
He doesn’t want you to be afraid. So He “will quiet you by His love.” The more you turn your heart towards His love, the more He will pour the revelation of it into you. His tenderness will sooth your soul. It will quiet your fears. It will provide the very real comfort that you need each day.
So no, He is not irritated with you. Quite the opposite. Right this very moment, He is taking pleasure in you. He is rejoicing over you with a heart so glad about who you are. You know, my friend, God really, really likes you. He wants that truth to be the starting point for your day… and the underlying, defining bedrock of your soul throughout each hour of your existence.
Before you rush off onto the next thing you need to do, just sit with this life-altering truth for a prolonged moment. Daddy God likes you, for you. He really, really does.

Do you know at a deep, deep level that God relishes your company?
Always loved that verse in Zepheniah.
