Recently, my dad shared with me a conversation he had with another brother in the Lord. This man was expressing deep concern. As the stock market has gone further and further down, he has watched years of his effort seem to disappear into nothingness. He was seeking Dad out for insight and encouragement on the subject.
As I thought about their interaction, this Scripture came to mind:
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment” (1 Tim. 6:17, NIV).
If there were ever a time that this verse was relevant, it is now! (Of course it always has been, but this current chapter of history sure brings it home to our hearts). Are you feeling it? The uncertainty of wealth? I don’t personally know anyone who hasn’t felt its effects during these times we are presently living through.
Even as I am working on writing this, I just received a message from someone in California saying that she just paid $5.89 a gallon to fill up her truck. Together, we praised Jesus that we are not tied down to the economy of this world, but connected into Heaven’s economy!
Here in Peru, so many of our dear brothers and sisters were already struggling financially, before the pandemic pulled the rug out from under so many. Now, inflation has caused prices to steadily rise for basic staples. Like never before, Continue reading With All His Heart
