Baby’s Healing Leaves Doctors Stunned

Rosmery’s voice quavered on the other end of the line. “Pastor Jennifer, the doctor said my baby could die any minute,” she expressed in anguish. “There is a generalized infection throughout his little body.”

Her three-month-old son Jeremy had been severely ill for over a month. A mysterious seizure led to weeks of agonizing hospitalization and unanswered questions. The pediatric team could not figure out the source of his symptoms. His infection worsened and days dragged on. Twenty-four days into the ordeal, he almost died.

When he miraculously survived that near-death encounter, the doctors sedated him for a week. When they stopped the sedation drugs, he did not wake up. The pale of infirmity hovered over him menacingly.

Another week went by. Emergency evacuation to the capital city of Lima was deemed Jeremy’s only hope. The family immediately got on a plane. Within hours, Jeremy was in the care of the best specialists available in the country.

His heart and liver were dangerously inflamed. Severe sepsis had invaded his entire body, causing swelling everywhere. All of his critical blood levels were low. The specialist assigned to his case warned that at any time he could go into cardiac arrest and bleed out from any part of his body.

Rosmery sent me an anguished message requesting prayer backup. I called her right away. As I listened to her heartbreaking description of Jeremy’s condition, something rose up inside of me. An overwhelming sense of the Lord’s compassion for this family and this little boy overcame my spirit. Tears began to roll down my cheeks. “Let’s pray, honey,” I managed to say, squeezing the words through the knot in my throat.  

The prayer that rose up from inside of me, I can only describe as the Lion of Judah roaring. Rosmery’s God was moved by Rosmery’s tears. I felt His unharnessed power flow through my lips as I commanded His healing word over His precious one! When we finished praying, I knew within my heart that something had shifted in the heavenlies.

The next day, Jeremy finally woke up. He began to improve dramatically. Within just five days, he was completely healed. The doctors were flabbergasted. One of them spoke for the team saying, “We don’t understand what happened with your baby. All I can say is that this is an astonishing miracle. This little guy had one foot in heaven a few days ago, and look at him now!”

The Lord of the heavens and the earth put His glory on display once again! Whatever painful trial you are walking through right now, I want to encourage you today. Listen to God’s heart for you in these words: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears… I will deliver you…” (Isa. 38:5, NKJV)
