Yes, Jesus Even Heals Autism!

The excitement had been building for months. My daughter Anna and I had been studying our Portuguese. We had watched the training videos. We were ready for our missions trip to Brazil.

What a joy it was to arrive in that country for the first time in our lives! The very first night of ministry, Holy Spirit was already moving powerfully. Anna ministered to a person with a large cyst on their hand. As she prayed, it completely disappeared before her eyes!

She was so excited to share this with me afterwards. She was also brimming over with other stories of ministering to young women who received healing from emotional brokenness by the power of God.

Amazingly, Holy Spirit miraculously multiplied the rudimentary Portuguese she had managed to pick up before the trip. Under the anointing that was flowing, He gave her the ability to communicate with perfect fluency in the language… but only while ministering!

For me, though, the most exciting healing I got to be a part of was a distance miracle. I prayed with a precious momma, Fatima, whose daughter Lara had autism. The little girl was not present, but we prayed for her together with fervency. I was so struck by Fatima’s confidence that Jesus was going to touch her Lara.

The next night, I saw Fatima again. She hugged me, exclaiming joyfully, “Lara had never put a sentence together in her life before. But she woke up this morning speaking in full sentences, and has continued doing so all day long!” We rejoiced together with so much gratitude to our Healer, Jesus!

You know, in Latino culture, girls have big fancy parties when they turn fifteen called quinceañeras. Anna turned fifteen in August. But instead of a party, she wanted this trip. We had such an indescribably special time together that marked us forever.

What better way to celebrate her birthday, than to see Jesus transform lives… including our own!
