The Blood of the Eternal Covenant

“For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin… This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time” (Rom. 3:25-26a, NLT).

Can you wrap your mind around how mighty Jesus’ blood is? Do you realize that it even reaches backwards into history? From this Scripture, we learn that God left centuries of sins unpunished, before Jesus died. The Father was already including those who sinned back then in the forgiveness Jesus bought for us on the cross. No wonder Holy Spirit calls it “the blood of the eternal covenant” (Heb. 13:20, NIV). As God exists eternally, with no beginning and no end, the covenant He made with us in Jesus’ blood is likewise eternal. His precious blood was so explosively energetic that it was able to extend to multitudes who lived long ages before He shed it.

What indescribable power! The blood of Jesus was able to preemptively cover the sins of God’s children who lived under the old, inferior covenant. Those sons and daughters never even received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and yet His blood was able to encompass them. How much more will His blood avail for you, today? Unlike them, you have been grafted into the new covenant through that precious blood (Rom. 11:17). Unlike them, you have been made a partaker in the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4). Unlike them, you have been born again into a salvation so spectacular that, for millennia, prophets and angels longed to look into it (1 Pet. 1:10-12). Dear one, His blood is magnificently for you! Drink in this truth!

Daddy God wants us to receive deeper and deeper understanding about the life force available to us in the blood of His Son. I strongly sense Him wanting to minister this revelation to your spirit today. Whenever you and I find our conscience accusing us of having failed Him, He has made complete anticipatory provision for it. This provision is immediately available. He urges us to step into what He purchased for us, without wasting any time at all wallowing in guilt.

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Heb. 9:14, NKJV).

Not only does Jesus forgive you for every wrong thing you have done, but He even washes your conscience clean. This means that He removes that ugly feeling of guilt entirely from your mind and heart. He literally “takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). His blood is available to cleanse your conscience in this moment. Ask Him for this cleansing, and receive it… right now!
