  1. Reading “The Insanity of Obedience” by Nik Ripken, it strikes me that there are times, like when Joseph was sold into Egypt, that Father’s “rescue” does not happen on our time-schedule. He points out that we westerners, in our missionary zeal, would have rescued Joseph at any point in his encounters with terrible circumstances, but Father had better plans that eventually resulted in the salvation of the entire clan. While God may rescue us dramatically, we have to wait for His timing.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing the book, C.A., looks like a great one. I was just talking to my daughter this morning about Joseph’s story and how it must have been SO hard to see how God good make anything good out of the circumstances he was in. What an amazing Bible story that is. And boy, can I raise my hand and say, “Me! That’s me!” on having had to wait prolonged periods for God’s rescue. That’s actually the basis for the next series that He has laid on my heart for the podcast: what that long waiting period needs to look like in the lives of us believers. Thanks again for sharing!

      1. Wait till you read the book! Even walking with Jesus for many years, one cannot put it down unchanged! Just finished it this afternoon, and will be blogging on the coming persecution.

    1. Aw thank you, Barb. It’s actually much better at this point. I pre-recorded this audio devo a week ago in anticipation of having several very busy weeks, so I’ve had some recovery time since then. I needed to record several ahead of time, so if you hear my voice sounding like that in the next episodes, don’t worry, I’m better hehe.
