“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.” (1 John 4:18, NKJV)
What was your family environment, growing up? Was it a place where everyone felt welcome? Where everyone knew they belonged? Where laughter and fellowship happened around the table? Where hugs, kisses, and words of encouragement were everyday realities? Was it the home that drew all the neighborhood kids like a big house-shaped magnet?
If so, how wonderful! How truly blessed you are!
And if not, then:
“Come and go with me
To my Father’s house
Come and go with me
To my Father’s house
It’s a big, big house
With lots and lots a room
A big, big table
With lots and lots of food
A big, big yard
Where we can play football
A big, big house
It’s my Father’s house!” *
As I was beginning to write up for this post what was on my heart, those lyrics came back to my memory from twenty plus years ago. In my youth church, we danced all around the place to that song, releasing the full measure of our joyful teenage energy, on maximum volume. There’s just something so good about knowing you have a place in Daddy’s house!
In Father God’s house, everyone is welcome. Absolutely everyone belongs. Laughter is loud and genuine and accentuates the air all day long.
When you walk in, you get a warm, engulfing hug and an exuberant kiss. He is so happy to see you! He pats the seat next to Him at the table and brings you something to eat. Then He sits down, rests His face on His hand, and smiles at you. He wants to know about your day, and He listens with utmost attentiveness. He lets you know, with His body language and the sparkle in His eyes, how much He likes you, how much He relishes your company.
Daddy’s family culture is always warm and loving. In His house, you never get shamed for messing something up. If you fall down, He picks you up, dusts you off, and encourages you with kind words, to try again.
In Daddy’s house, the caliber of love that saturates the atmosphere has reached such heights that it truly is perfect. Here, you are utterly cherished. You are deeply heard. You are entirely respected. You are completely wanted and specifically welcomed. You are sought out. You are needed. You are accepted, treasured, and celebrated. You are perfectly loved.
As a result, in the family environment of Abba’s house, there is no room for fear. As soon as you slip through the door into His presence, all worries, all anxieties, all concerns melt away as if they never existed.
Come and go with me to my Father’s house!

How easy is it for you to relate to the family environment in Daddy God’s house?

The fear
the misery
the pain
and ultimately death
the constant companions of man.

Fear is not my constant companion, dear Hans. Jesus is my constant companion. His presence is so very real, so brimming over with love for me, and for everyone. His love really does drive my fears away, this is my real experience. I long for you to experience His love for yourself too!

I think Jesus was at odds with the dark side of life.
I don’t want to burden anyone with my darker side.

God’s house is where I try to dwell, where hope, and care, and grace are found in abundance. Then, I try to live this love and kindness outwardly in every aspect of my life. Sometimes I fail at it, and find myself frustrated, or annoyed, or even a bit angry, but God always welcomes me back into His house to share what I’m struggling with. He provides!

So beautiful, the way He does that. I had a dream not too long ago where He very gently, lovingly reminded me that it was okay to get to where I need a touch of His encouragement and cleansing. It helped me so much 🙂
