No End to His Peace

It’s audio devo day!

Overcoming fear… living victoriously in this way is a colossal spiritual challenge. Jesus never intended for us to go it alone on this one. He has given us the power of the Holy Spirit, which is also the power of His peace! In today’s episode we dive into this amazing provision that is for each one of us. Be blessed as you listen here:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” (Acts 1:8, ESV).

When I am heading out of the house, I often leave my kids with instructions. The very last thing that I say to them is what I most want them to remember.

That’s what we have here in this verse: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” (Acts 1:8, ESV). These are among Jesus’ very last words to His disciples right before He left their side and ascended into Heaven. These were supremely, utterly important to Him. He needed us to know that He did not intend to leave us orphans. And He did not intend to leave us powerless for such an enormous task as lay ahead.

Living victoriously in this fallen world is a colossal spiritual challenge. It is simply not possible without the power of the Holy Spirit. This truth is an irreplaceable key for our ongoing series about overcoming fear. You see, living victoriously over fear, in a world overrun by it, is likewise impossible – that is, it’s impossible without the Holy Spirit’s empowering.

The amazingly wonderful news is that His power is still available to you and me, today. God knows we need it. As a matter of fact, He intends to generously supply all the power that we need. He intends for His children to represent Him well on this earth, walking out this life here, mighty in spirit. In order to resemble Jesus, we need to both overflow with His love, and know how to walk in His power.

As we continue to study and walk out this topic, freedom from fear, let’s think some more about the power that He has promised to provide us. Did you know that God’s supernatural peace is a vital part of this provision? His peace is a manifestation of His power. This is why He tells us, “The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet” (Rom. 16:20, GW).

Notice His choice of title in this verse. He could easily have picked “God Almighty,” “King of Kings,” or “The Lord of Hosts” for such a decisive depiction of the victory He has in store for you and me. But no, instead, He very intentionally chose “the God of peace.” This is because it’s the power of His peace that crushes the enemy under our feet.

That power is ours. You and I don’t have to live in fear. With His last words on earth, He promised us this power we need to live free of it. This is real. This is His Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven. For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power” (1 Cor. 4:20, ESV).

Do you remember the verse we talked about last week, about Jesus giving us His very own peace? In that Scripture, He first said, “My peace I give you.” With His very next breath He said, “Do not let your heart be afraid” (John 14:27). He knew that the only way we are going to stay unafraid is when the power of His peace is governing our hearts. His Kingdom is a Kingdom of Peace; this is why His name is the Prince of Peace.

Isaiah beautifully prophesied, Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. As this government of His, His Kingdom, comes on the inside of us, the power of His peace displaces every fear. His kingdom truly is “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17, NKJV).

This is for you, my friend. Are you needing an upgrade in spiritual power for victory over fear today? Ask for it, and you shall receive. When you ask, do so with the simple faith of a child, with joyful expectation. Believe that He is hearing and answering your request. You are receiving the power you are requesting. Victory is yours. His government of peace in increasing supernaturally inside of you!

The power of His peace will quickly crush fear under your feet.

  1. How utterly beautiful you minister to me – or the Lord does through you, whatever the theology is! But thank you! How are you in the Amazon? What do you do there? Have you always lived there? I could hear birdsong too. He’s been speaking to me about the fresh daily outpouring like the daily manna, so that was perfect. x

  3. Take the time to be in God’s presence, not to rush. This is a message I needed to hear to day. In a world where immediate gratification is sought at every opportunity, waiting in God’s presence, praying to Him, and waiting for the answer in His time not mine, is such an important message. Thank you for the prayers, for the encouragement to raise hands and eyes and heart to God, the one through whom nothing is impossible. ❤

Thank you God, for always being there for me, and providing peace in my heart when I can’t see a way for it to happen.
