When Your Daddy Is Bigger, Period.

Daddy with boy

“…My Father is greater than I” (John 14:28, NKJV).

As a tiny human being in an immense universe, Jesus needed to know that His Daddy was bigger and stronger than Him. And He did know it – to His deepest core. This gave Him the profound sense of security and confidence with which He walked through His thirty-three years in a vulnerable human body with a vulnerable human soul. He knew He could safely nestle into loving arms much bigger than His, and belong. He knew that, together, He and Daddy could take on the world.

He offers you this same heart knowledge today. Your Daddy is greater than you. Not only that, but whatever vexing, weighty circumstance you are facing right now – He is greater than that too. His greatness trumps your weaknesses, and His infinite might trumps any weapon formed against you. Yes, His limitless power trumps any enemy that could seek your harm… so much so that we can trumpet out the question, “If God is for us, who can be against us???” Every demon in hell knows that the answer is… NO ONE!!!

Do you face fears that you will not be able to follow the Lord well enough? That your falterings will jeopardize the fulfillment of your God-given longings and dreams? That your failings will derail what amazing future He might give you if only you could serve Him more faithfully?

He wants to set those fears at ease right now with His beautiful love. Jesus speaks these words to comfort and assure our hearts: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me… My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:27, 29, NKJV, bold emphasis mine).

Hear these truths from His heart right now, and speak them out in agreement with Him:

  1. I am His sheep. His very own.
  2. I do know His voice.
  3. I do follow Him.
  4. I have been given to Jesus. I belong to Him. After giving up His life in a torturous death to make me His, there’s no way He’s ever going to let me go.
  5. My Father is greater than I. He is greater than all. His ability to keep me in His hand trumps my inability to follow Him perfectly. I am His. He’s got me. Forever.

Feel Him squeeze your hand. Look up into His eyes sparkling with delight that you are His. And walk forward with great confidence. Your Father is greater than you.

What would life look like, if we were always at rest in His love?

  1. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 NIV).
This verse has encouraged me more times than I can count that our Father God does indeed have everything under control.
    Blessings,
    Chuck

  2. Thanks, Jenn, for this timely post. We live in a fallen world, and sometimes it seems like we can’t do what’s right, because there IS no right answer. But it’s good to know that when we make mistakes, He’s already covered them. Where would we be without grace?

    1. Amen, Annie. This very truth has been very close to home this week because someone close to my heart that I mentor very recently made a big mistake with extensive consequences. I have been so comforted by knowing that Jesus’ grace is big enough to cover it and bring redemption.

  3. Such a great post!! “My Father is greater than I. He is greater than all. His ability to keep me in His hand trumps my inability to follow Him perfectly. I am His. He’s got me. Forever.” I just wrote in a similar vein…and now I see we are hearing the same reassurance from our Father. love you sister.
