“You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth” (Ps. 104:30, NKJV).
This verse has been stirring in my spirit this week. I believe the Father is impressing on my heart that times of renewal are up ahead for the earth. Just as the northern hemisphere is experiencing spring right now, signs of new life will begin to appear soon all over the planet. The land was asleep and apparently dead during winter. Now, plants are coming back to life. Birds have begun to sing so joyfully (they seem completely unaware of the COVID crisis, don’t they?). Flowers appear everywhere. Vibrant greens and so many other vivid colors beautify our world once again.
They are prophesying. The Father is going to send His Spirit to renew the face of the earth from the winter of this pandemic. New life is coming.
The previous verse in this chapter says, “You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust” (v. 29). This speaks to me of the earth’s complete dependency on God for all things; especially life. It doesn’t at all mean that God wants to take our breath away. Rather, the Word is instructing us that if we are breathing, it’s because He’s putting breath in our lungs. If we are alive, it’s because He has given us this day.
We have been enduring a season of feeling deeply troubled, as this Scripture describes. We have been through a dying process. In wintertime, all the greenery that cheers our hearts gets put to death. Even darkness takes up more space in our lives, as the nighttime gets so much longer, seeming to eat up more and more of the light of our days.
The beautiful thing about seasons is that they do not last forever. Springtime always follows winter. Hope always springs anew. New life always returns to our hearts. Joy always comes in the morning.
Maybe the Holy Spirit has been putting to death aspects of our lives that were stealing from our spiritual vitality. Maybe you and I have been going through an intense kind of dying, being crucified with Christ. If so, the exultant news of Jesus our Savior is this: “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his” (Rom. 6:5, ESV).
Just as we celebrated His triumph over death last week, we will soon celebrate the same in our own lives. For those of us who are in Christ, resurrection always follows death!
Dear one, take Easter, take spring, as prophetic whispers. Holy Spirit is coming. He’s coming to renew the earth. Glorious new life is ahead.
(Song 2:11-13, NIV).

Have you experienced joy coming in the morning after a winter season of life? If so, do you have any words of wisdom to share from your reflection on that time?
Excellent word, Jennifer! I love the wisdom and insight that the prophetic brings. This word reminds us that no matter what the circumstance looks like, God has a purpose for everything under heaven, plans to bless and not harm. He is preparing a table for us in the presence of our enemies. Blessings ♥

Beautiful. Thank you. Even though we are at beginning of our Autumn, the softer days are seeing a verdant green That is such a sign of new beginnings after a very hot/fire prone and dangerous Summer. Blessing. We appreciate God’s unfolding Grace in so many ways if we only LOOK.

I too, feel there is something in the air, hope for change and renewal in our cultures. Every change needs a catalyst and don’t you hope it’s causing a shift toward spiritual maturity? Nice post and picture too!

I sure do have hope for that! Father, let it be so! Thank you so much, sis. ❤ Do you like going by Jane, or both of your names? Or any other preference?

Thank you so much for the reminder. We are deemed an essential business (you can’t get more essential than growing food!) so it’s been super busy this Spring despite the pandemic issues. God’s beauty and the cycle of life is present everyday so it’s easy to remember (most days) that “this to shall pass” just as our vegetables have their season. That’s always a helpful reminder when I get overwhelmed…
My wife reminds me that my life is a beautiful tapestry woven by Abba. If you look on the backside you see a mess of threads, but if you turn it over you see this beautiful picture of the life Abba has made for us.

I’m so blessed by your comment, Gregory! What a wonderful reminder indeed your firsthand seasonal experiences must be. And that tapestry metaphor is absolutely perfect. Amen and amen. Thank you so very much for sharing! 🙂

I has certainly been nice to get out in the backyard after being in quarantine since the beginning of March! Fortunately, God has been putting on quite a show for us.
