You see the picture here? That’s a seed that I found this weekend. I was outside of the city in the jungle, and spotted it on the ground. I nudged it with my foot, wondering if it was a mushroom. It didn’t feel like one. So I picked it up, and realized it was some kind of seed.
My husband tells me that it’s the seed of a tree. I’d never seen anything like it before. I was fascinated, and took it with me. Soon, Holy Spirit started talking to me about it. He reminded me that every detail in the physical world is a reflection of a pre-existing detail in the spiritual world. He has planted discoveries all around us, to teach us aspects of spiritual reality. He set up creation to point to Him, to teach us about who He is. We can learn so much about His heart and His truths by opening our eyes and ears to pay attention to the clues He continually drops into our laps.
The next day, I held the seed up and showed it to those attending a retreat where I was teaching. I shared with them what Holy Spirit was stirring in my heart: that every minute we are given on earth is like this seed. Sixty seconds seem like something really small, just like a seed does. However, what we do with each little segment of our time has implications that will grow into something enormous, much like the majestic trees of the Amazon Rainforest that towered over the perimeter of our retreat center.
Everything matters. Absolutely every word that we speak matters. Every decision, every action, every inner attitude that we choose moment by moment. Every human interaction. Every thought. Every prayer. Every movement in the direction of obedience, or away from it. Each one is a seed. Each one is one step closer to who we are becoming.
Even more weightily, each and every one is getting observed and recorded in those very same books that will come open before God at the end of lives. Each and every one will determine how He will be able to reward us, or not… and how we will spend forever and ever and ever, time without end.
When 2019 is over, you will have lived another 525,600 minutes since January 1st. Those are 525,600 seeds. Where do you want to plant them? What is truly, vitally important to you? What harvest do you want to plan on? Wherever you plant them… be assured, dear one, that’s where they will grow.

Jennifer, your reading brought to mind this thought. When I look back NOW, at my past, it appears that I have been dormant! No growth and no multiplication that God has intended for my life. And now, this seed has begun to bloom and flourish. It is very late in my season of life, but I believe that He who has begun a good thing will continue it to the end. Amen. Len Wisniewski

What a Awesome responsibility Daddy God has placed on us! To think every second of every day is a seed, to be planted for good or bad. I have never thought of it in this way. This will change ones perspective of daily living.
