Ester, Appendicitis, and Giving Tuesday

Hi everyone! If you missed my usual Monday morning devo post, it’s because we had an emergency last night. My daughter Ester started having symptoms of appendicitis in the afternoon, and by 9:00 pm, a surgeon had helpfully removed her appendix. Thankfully, though, the surgery went great, there were no further complications, and she is on the mend.

She is an amazing girl. She was laughing and joking up until they wheeled her into surgery. As you can see:

I most likely won’t get a devo up for tomorrow either, as we are still in the hospital…

However, I did want to take a quick moment and share — our organization is doing a very special fundraiser for Giving Tuesday tomorrow, and I would absolutely love for you to be a part! Our goal is to put — for the first time ever — decent bathrooms with running water into the campus of our church planters training institute (for those of you that aren’t familiar with this, we are located in the heart of the Amazon Jungle!)

The exciting thing is that Facebook is going to match every dollar that is given… that is, until their allotted $7 million runs out. And thousands of other nonprofits are participating, so that’s not going to take long.

The match starts tomorrow morning, 8:00 am ET. So gifts prior to that moment won’t count — but for them to count, they need to be made within a SHORT time of 8:00 am… last year it was $2 million and the goal was reached in about 15 minutes!
