Abide in My Love

It is my joy to have my dear sister, Pastor Dawn Beard, bringing a guest post for our devo today! Dawn has been my friend since we were freshmen in high school. Be blessed as she shares:

Where do you live? What kind of home have you made for yourself, for your family? This time of year, extra time and effort goes into making our homes cozy and inviting. Lights are hung, decorations displayed, special once a year items are brought out, all in an effort to enhance our enjoyment of the Christmas season. We prepare our homes for the gathering of families and friends, in an atmosphere of love and joy.

Did you know that you could live in such an atmosphere of love and joy year round? You have been personally invited to live in the amazing love of God. Jesus extended an invitation to make His love your permanent home. Not only that, but promises that His joy and delight will overflow as you do! His love, your home. His joy, your reality.

“I have loved you just as the Father has loved Me; remain in My love [and do not doubt My love for you]. If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.” John 15:9-11 AMP

The key is to trust His love for you. Do not doubt His love, but believe that He loves you just as the Father loves Him! Jesus proved His love for you by leaving Heaven and coming to Earth in human form, not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom. Out of obedience to His Father’s love, Jesus chose to lay down His life on the cross. What a powerful demonstration of love and the greatest gift ever given!

Hear His personal invitation to you today. Allow the safety and security of His love to drive away all fear, worries and cares. Come on in and make yourself at home in His love. Sit back, relax and enjoy all He has richly given. Breathe in the peace and joy that He gives. Close your eyes and savor His perfect love for you. Bask in His joy and delight over you. Oh how your Daddy loves you!
