The Day We Relinquish Chasing the Wind

It is better to be content with what little you have. Otherwise, you will always be struggling for more, and that is like chasing the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 4:6 NCV).

Have you ever watched anyone chase the wind? My guess would be no. Why would we do such a ridiculous thing as that? That is God’s point exactly. Living in a constant pattern of struggling for more, and comparing ourselves to others, is equally absurd from His perspective. (He tells us this in the most tender, gentle tones of love. How He longs to draw us with His kindness into a better way, the way of freedom!).

If we did decide to try to chase the wind, would we ever catch it? Of course not. What if we spend the rest of our lives trying to be more like “those” people? “Those” people who seem to be more successful, more attractive, more prosperous, more popular, more… you know it. There are endless amounts of words we could fill in the blank following that word “more…”
