Jima had been crying out to God for years for her son Daniel. Without a dad in his life, he was lost. Looking for belonging, he had gotten in with the wrong crowd. He then became ensnared in substance abuse and stealing. Jima’s heart ached, watching him fall deeper and deeper into that pit of darkness. Each time she gently tried to point him to Jesus, he only snapped at her.
As a church, we fast together every Saturday morning. Jima was unfailingly present at these gatherings. She kept calling upon the name of Jesus for Daniel. We also hold a three day fasting retreat each month out at our jungle Missions School. Jima didn’t miss a single one of them either. She was determined to see Heaven’s intervention in her boy’s life.
However, Daniel’s oppression only worsened. Year after year went by. Only Heaven knows just how many tears coursed down her cheeks during that time. Again and again, she would fall on her knees for him.
