Where Wisdom Begins

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding” (Ps. 111:10, ESV).

This Scripture shows us where the right perspective begins for our lives: with the fear of the Lord. To fear Him is to be in absolute awe of who He is. The enemy hates this and wants us to fear him instead. Our adversary would like nothing better than to shift our focus onto what he is up to, instead of on what God is doing.

You see, the devil wants us to be in awe of his work. He wants us impressed by what he is doing in this world. Whether it be through problems, family strife, work tensions, world crises, or just too many responsibilities on our plates, his favorite thing to do is to distract us from keeping our eyes on Jesus.
