
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 15:13, NIV).
We all know that fear and deception are the enemy’s most basic weapons. Today I’d like to bring to the light one of his favorite forms of deception: hopelessness. Hopelessness is one of his top favorite lies. How he wishes to keep us pulled down into that despondent place where we believe his whispers that there is no hope for the situation we are facing!
I was reminded by one my favorite preachers today, “Any area of our lives lacking hope is under the influence of a lie.” Is this true? If so, why would it be the case? Because in Jesus, there is always hope! For even the most impossible situations, there is hope. For even the darkest of anguished nights, there is hope. (I have been through quite a number of these, so I say this from a place of deep compassion for the hurting; not glibly).
Our Scripture today reveals to us another essential part of who He is: the God of hope. Hope is part of His nature, so if we are in Christ, we are in hope. This promise will never lie: Continue reading When the Light Comes On
