A Recovered Job and the Joy of a Boss Born Again

“Please pray for me! I lost my job because of my faith in Jesus. I’m believing for my boss to get saved, and to give me back my job!”

One of our new disciples, Karin, came up for prayer. She burst out with these words. We all then began to beseech heaven passionately.

When we inquired further, she blurted out the story excitedly. Karin is a nurse. Full of the zeal of her first love, she had asked for two days off. She wanted to go to the women’s retreat. Her boss refused adamantly. Karin believed the Lord told her to go anyway. She proceeded with her plans. Her boss didn’t care what God had said. She fired her.

Karin immediately ran to her Just Judge, Jesus, for a verdict. We agreed with her fervently in prayer, her newborn faith and enthusiasm contagious. We were all convinced He would intervene.

Shortly after that, we noticed an unfamiliar woman sitting with Karin in church. This woman was pale, hunched over, and clearly in a grumpy mood. A disagreeable expression hardened her features. We soon learned that this was Karin’s ex-boss, Mariela. Mariela was quite ill. Karin had convinced her to come to one of the services for prayer.

Mariela had apparently been suffering for some time. Although she had plenty of money, no doctor had been able to help her. Her son was studying medicine in the U.S. Not even he was able to offer her any relief. She had become desperate. Karin eagerly told her how frequently people get healed in our meetings. Without any other hope, she decided to accept the invitation.

To our surprise, the sour-faced woman began to attend frequently. She wasn’t just coming on Sundays, either. She even became a regular at our corporate fasts. Her body language began to soften. Dramatic change was happening before our eyes. Then came the moment when she told Pastor Carmen, “I like hearing you preach.
