“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matt. 6:11, NKJV).
Bread is a symbol of basic sustenance. Jesus taught us to pray, entrusting our most fundamental needs into the hands of Daddy God. Bread does not only represent food; it represents everything that we need… not only for surviving, but for flourishing.
As Jesus explained to us, our Abba knows what we need even before we even bring it up to Him in conversation. And yet, He still taught us that this trusting request for daily bread is a vital part of prayer. You see, Daddy wants to hear from us about our needs. He delights in the time we spend with Him!
