Thousands of New Salvations in the Public Schools!

Amazonian Wednesdays 🌴

I looked into her face. The Father’s love for her rose up powerfully in my heart. We began to talk.

At the same time, youth from New Life Church, Arkansas danced and played with the children. My new friend stood next to me and watched. I had just arrived a few minutes earlier with this lively group of teenagers. We had walked freely into this public school. The staff welcomed us; even invited us. We were about to preach the gospel openly.

The precious woman with whom I spoke, Darla, was a teacher. As the conversation continued, she warmed up to me quickly. She soon confided in me that she had lupus. I could feel the Holy Spirit moving inside and through me. I leaned into Him, following His lead. I shared some testimonies with her about healing. Before I knew it, she was ready to pray with me.

Excitement began to build. Darla wasn’t contented to keep this blessing to herself. She called out to several of her colleagues, motioning for them to come. Then those teachers summoned even a few more. Full of anticipation, the group of us went into a classroom.

The Spirit of God manifested in power! One by one, these beautiful women shared their needs with me. Many of them began to weep as He swept over them with His love. I laid hands on each one, praying and commanding healing and blessing. I would finish with one, and the next one would move eagerly in front of me for her turn. They were so hungry! The most amazing part of all is that the entire group of them prayed with me to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior!

Outside, our visiting NLC team was sharing Jesus with hundreds of students gathered around the basketball court. Just as I finished up with praying over the teachers, they were drawing in the net as well. At the invitation to surrender to Jesus, hundreds of hands went up. Can you even imagine the celebration happening in heaven in that moment?

Here in Iquitos, the public schools are open to us. We have the mind-blowing privilege of going into school after school, and presenting Christ crucified, resurrected, and eager for relationship with each one of us. Every single time, eager hands go up all over the crowd. Young, tender voices repeat the salvation prayer with bold eagerness.

Then we go and pray individually over everyone desiring personal ministry. Oftentimes the children cry in our arms as Jesus begins to heal their hurts. It amazes me that we are able to do this so freely in a public environment. What a holy privilege to serve the Lord in a region where the fields are so white unto harvest!

    1. We encourage them to find a church near them, and also invite them to ours if they need a church. There are a lot of good churches in our city, and often it’s easier for them to get to whichever one is closest when they don’t own transportation. We also have cell groups around the city and do our best to connect new converts with them whenever possible.

  1. Wow, what an incredible testimony of faith and healing! It’s truly amazing to hear how the Holy Spirit worked so powerfully in that school, touching the lives of so many people. The way Darla and her colleagues were moved to seek prayer and ultimately receive Jesus is such a testament to the power of God’s love and presence.
