“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4b, NKJV).
So much power, depth, nuance, and meaning emanate from just one word flowing out of God’s mouth! This morning I wrote down in my journal four verses that Holy Spirit brought to my attention. I put each one in a different color and underlined the specific phrases that were going deep into my spirit. Then I just sat there in the silence with Him and stared at His words. They were so alive! It felt like an IV from Heaven feeding directly into my being. I stayed there for quite a while, marinating in His communication.
There is something emphatically impactful about isolating and examining one small piece of Scripture. This is why we habitually find solitary verses at the head of devotionals like this one. What an enriching opportunity this provides us for meditation!
I personally receive several different devos in my email every morning. With wonderful frequency, I open them up and the single verse at the top jumps into my heart as I read it. I may or may not read the commentary underneath, but that one verse, in all of its riches, is often enough to set the tone for my entire day. It’s different than reading a whole passage of the Bible. There really is something special about taking just one word from God’s mouth and allowing it to impart all of its height and depth and length and width into our heart of hearts.
The more intimately that we walk with Daddy, the more He will create in us a natural draw towards savoring everything and anything of meaning and beauty. We will pause frequently to hold onto a hug from one of our loved ones, to drink in the essence of the moment, to capture it in our heart for permanent keeping. This will also become our approach to God’s holy Word.
Since Jesus the Word is infinite, every single line that He recorded for us through His Spirit has measureless depths of meaning. I have been reading, studying, and meditating on His logos (written word) since I was nine years old. In my experience, each reading gets richer, and deeper, and fuller, and sweeter.
Today, I want to encourage you to take a deep draught of just one word from the mouth of God. If you read a chapter of the Bible, let Holy Spirit lead you to just one verse from that chapter. When you have gotten to the end of your reading, try writing that one verse down. Give yourself at least five minutes to soak in that single verse. Read it out loud multiple times. Memorize it. You could even write it on a little piece of paper to keep in your pocket all day. This will allow you to purposefully pull it out when you are waiting in line at the store, or have a minute in between activities. In every possible way, ruminate on that Scripture over and over again.
Do you realize that, in this way, you are stewarding His personal message to you? Let it dwell in you richly. Let it continue to stir in you. Let it become part of the very fabric of your being. Holy Spirit has SO MUCH to say to you through that one word from Daddy God’s heart!

Feeding On Jesus 
„Der Mensch lebt nicht vom Brot allein, sondern von jedem Wort, das aus dem Mund Gottes kommt“ (Mt 4,4b, NKJV).
So viel Kraft, Tiefe, Nuance und Bedeutung gehen von nur einem Wort aus, das aus Gottes Mund fließt! Heute morgen habe ich vier Verse in mein Tagebuch geschrieben, die der Heilige Geist mir zur Kenntnis gebracht hat. Ich habe jedes in eine andere Farbe gesetzt und die spezifischen Sätze unterstrichen, die tief in meinen Geist eindrangen. Dann saß ich einfach mit Ihm in der Stille da und starrte auf Seine Worte. Sie waren so lebendig! Es fühlte sich an wie eine Infusion vom Himmel, die direkt in mein Wesen gespeist wird. Ich blieb eine ganze Weile dort und vertiefte mich in Seine Kommunikation.
Es hat etwas sehr Beeindruckendes, ein kleines Stück Schrift herauszuarbeiten und zu untersuchen. Aus diesem Grund finden wir gewöhnlich einzelne Verse am Anfang von Andachten wie dieser. Was für eine bereichernde Gelegenheit, die uns dies für die Meditation bietet!
Ich persönlich erhalte jeden Morgen mehrere verschiedene Devos in meiner E-Mail. Mit wunderbarer Häufigkeit schlage ich sie auf und die einzelne Strophe ganz oben springt mir beim Lesen ins Herz. Ich kann den Kommentar darunter lesen oder auch nicht, aber dieser eine Vers mit all seinem Reichtum reicht oft aus, um den Ton für meinen ganzen Tag anzugeben. Es ist etwas anderes, als eine ganze Bibelstelle zu lesen. Es ist wirklich etwas Besonderes, nur ein einziges Wort aus Gottes Mund zu nehmen und ihm zu erlauben, seine ganze Höhe und Tiefe und Länge und Weite in unser Herz der Herzen zu übertragen.
Je inniger wir mit Daddy wandeln, desto mehr wird Er in uns einen natürlichen Drang erzeugen, alles und jedes von Bedeutung und Schönheit zu genießen. Wir werden häufig innehalten, um eine Umarmung von einem unserer Lieben festzuhalten, die Essenz des Augenblicks in uns aufzunehmen und ihn in unserem Herzen festzuhalten, um ihn dauerhaft zu bewahren. Dies wird auch unsere Herangehensweise an Gottes heiliges Wort werden.
Da Jesus das Wort unendlich ist, hat jede einzelne Zeile, die Er durch Seinen Geist für uns aufzeichnete, eine unermessliche Bedeutungstiefe. Ich lese, studiere und meditiere über Sein Logos (geschriebenes Wort), seit ich neun Jahre alt war. Meiner Erfahrung nach wird jede Lektüre reicher und tiefer und voller und süßer.
Heute möchte ich Sie ermutigen, einen tiefen Schluck von nur einem Wort aus dem Mund Gottes zu nehmen. Wenn Sie ein Kapitel der Bibel lesen, lassen Sie sich vom Heiligen Geist zu nur einem Vers aus diesem Kapitel führen. Wenn Sie mit dem Lesen fertig sind, versuchen Sie, diesen einen Vers aufzuschreiben. Geben Sie sich mindestens fünf Minuten Zeit, um in diesen einen Vers einzutauchen. Lies es mehrmals laut vor. Merke es dir. Du könntest es sogar auf ein kleines Stück Papier schreiben, um es den ganzen Tag in deiner Tasche zu haben. Auf diese Weise können Sie es gezielt herausziehen, wenn Sie im Geschäft in der Schlange stehen oder zwischen den Aktivitäten eine Minute Zeit haben. Denken Sie auf jede erdenkliche Weise immer wieder über diese Schriftstelle nach.
Ist Ihnen bewusst, dass Sie auf diese Weise Seine persönliche Botschaft an Sie hüten? Lass es reichlich in dir wohnen. Lass es weiter in dir rühren. Lass es zu einem Teil deines Wesens werden. Der Heilige Geist hat dir durch dieses eine Wort aus Daddy Gods Herzen SO VIEL zu sagen!

Love this! Yes! I know my Papa in this way. His Word lives and breathes and fills my heart and soul and breath to overflowing: every day afresh. I love to sit with a tiny portion of Scripture and listen and then gift it back in thanks to Jesus in prayer.
One thing that I learnt is not to allow teachers of the Word to limit how I hear from my God. I have read teachers rebuke people for opening their Bibles to a random page. I did that in one of the most painful and fear-filled times of my life, as I challenged God to give me just one reason to live and God spoke SO powerfully through that “random” (purposed by Him) page. I still seek Him in that way and every time He speaks to me in such an intimate and personal way through that “random” (purposed) page. He also wakes me up (in bed or during my day) with a verse or passage He places on my heart to get up and re-read and then I will marvel at the new gems He reveals to me there.
Right now I am marveling at the Word of God coming out of my husband in the things he shares that he’s been reading and listening to that fit perfectly with what God has only just taken me through.
I also receive several devotionals, verses of the day and a daily prophetic Word/prayer and they are always SO on point for what I am walking through and what God has been speaking to me and my family and friends.
