The Language of Your Heart

It’s audio devo day!

Does it seem to you like God’s voice is remote and hard to access? Actually, the opposite is true. He makes His speaking wonderfully accessible to you, and easy for you to understand. He tailors His messages to the language of your own heart. In fact, He has something very personal to share with you as you listen here:

(Encouraged by this? Know someone else that needs to hear it today? You can either share today’s blog link with them, or look up my Feeding on Jesus podcast for sharing and subscribing. You’ll find it at these links on iTunesGoogle PodcastsStitcher, and most other podcast platforms, with episodes identical to these audio devos!)

Do you have an experience to share of God speaking to you in symbols very close to your heart?

  1. So beautiful. I was in Philippians this morning and this verse so touched my heart: “Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.” Especially that Paul connnects that graciousness and yielding spirit to the nearness of Jesus. So, I loved how you cited the verse in Philippians on doing all things through Christ who strengthens us. It’s so very true.

    I often find God speaking to me through films or TV programs. Funnily I don’t watch TV or films very often – and recently when He spoke to me so beautifully it was when I relaxed my “rules” of no TV before 5pm for my girls when they weren’t feeling well and I felt God say to me: come sit with Me too. My youngest daughter chose a movie about super puppies and I could have cried when the little puppy said: “use your advantage” as he used his tiny size to follow a mouse out and escape those trying to capture him, who couldn’t fit through the small ventilation hole in the wall, as God had been speaking to me on the gift of humility- making ourselves small to escape the enemy’s schemes. This was weeks ago but God keeps bringing it back to lead me out from the enemy’s schemes (of pride and control) into the freedom (of surrender and trust in the joy of humility).

    I asked God for a Word He wanted me to receive on April 6th and it was Psalm 32:7:
    You are a hiding place for me;
        you preserve me from trouble;
        you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah

    As I shared it with a friend and told her that “deliverance” can also mean “to calve” and “surround me” can also mean “fetch me/cause me to come” I suddenly remembered something my husband and I watched on TV also. It’s a series called “Farmer Seeks a Wife” and one of the women woke early and because she got up then she was able to partake in the calving. She was so overwhelmed by the beauty of that moment alone with the farmer, experiencing such an amazing moment alone together, as the tiny helpless calf came into the world.

    And then, I sat there and read further in A Passion for the Impossible, a book written by Miriam Huffman Rockness about the life of Lilias Trotter, and just cried and cried, as I sat with the Promise God gave Lilias right before her own weary heart and others’ weary hearts were broken open wide to receive a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit – and to see hearts opening to Christ all around them in response, after years and years of sowing amongst hardened hearts without reaping:

    Malachi 3:1
    “See, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. Then the Lord you seek will suddenly come to His temple, the Messenger of the covenant you desire—see, He is coming,” says the Lord of Hosts.

    It mirrored what God spoke to me shortly after He brought me home to Him in 2014 – that with each person He sends us to love into His Kingdom, He has gone ahead to prepare their hearts to receive Him. When the time is ripe, He sets us apart to usher us into His Presence to watch Him birth that new life in us and around us, and just like that woman on that TV program, we will be so in awe, so overwhelmed by God’s goodness to us.

    Yes! The LORD is near, SO near. Oh may my heart continue to be broken open to His fresh infilling, as God yields me to the Spirit of His blessed law that embraces each one of us. May my eyes continue to open to see the new life He is birthing right here in my midst, in the hushed quietness with Him.
