Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled“
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic hosts proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!”
“Triumph of the skies” is right – what a majestically victorious song this one is! Let’s take a moment and drink in the astounding scope of what Holy Spirit is communicating to us here. “God and sinners reconciled.” Through Jesus, you and God are good. Not just a little bit good. You are completely good.
“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight” (Col. 1:21-22, NKJV, emphasis mine).
Holy. Blameless. Above reproach. You. Yes, you! You are now holy because of His obedience to come and be incarnated as your Savior. Because of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, that which the herald angels proclaimed – “peace on earth” – has come true. This is not “sway by a campfire” peace we are talking about. This is not, pose for a picture with two fingers up, slap on a peace sign, peace. This is infinitely more. This is holy, sacred, peace with God Himself.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:1, NKJV).
You and God. Completely, profoundly at peace. Forever.
Is that not breathtaking?

Rescued, redeemed, and restored by the precious blood of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!! Love this post, Jennifer! I am singing in agreement with you and with all my Christian brothers and sisters:
“Hail the heav’n Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris’n with healing in His wings.
Mild he lays His glory by,
Born the man no more may die;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.”
God bless all and have a very Merry Christmas and a joyful, peaceful, and healthy New Year!
