Silent, Heavenly Peace

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace

When you really lean into this song, do you feel Christmas peace settling over you? I believe Jesus wants to do exactly that for you. He wants to encompass you with His peace.

Silent night. He is inviting you and me to create some spaces of silence, that we might focus on His gift of “heavenly peace.” Do you have any plans for just sitting quietly during this Advent season?

Listen with your heart to these words from the Christmas angels: “…And on earth peace to those who have his good will!” (Luke 2:14, GW). That’s you, dear one. You have His good will. His grace is shining upon you now.

Will you intentionally soak in this good will of His that is towards you? What if you set a timer for ten minutes and just intentionally sat in silence in His loving presence?

Will you carve out intentional windows for just enjoying His closeness this month?

“Be still…” (Ps. 46:10)

“…Let all the earth be quiet before him” (Hab. 2:20, BBE).

  1. I’m so in awe of Him. This is too timely. No it’s perfect. I just posted about Him speaking to me tonight, telling me to Be still. Right after I published my post, I saw this. It’s perfect. ❤️

  2. May we seek His peace. When my kids were little, we used to read about the birth of Jesus in our barn on Christmas Eve night. It was cold and dark, but the silence is what really impressed upon me. It was a quiet moment to reflect on what God did for us by sending His son.

    1. That hurts my heart too, Mike, when the precious people we love are not there yet on receiving His love. I can only imagine how much it hurts HIS heart, as He longs for them to know how much He loves them!

  3. Jesus came and what He did for each one of us means this inner Holy Peace is God the Holy Spirit’s Gift to each one of us, It needs to be ‘accepted’ and time taken to let it minister to our souls. Silent Night is a beautiful illustration of what the Prince of Peace came to bring into this broken world for us who LOVE Him.
