Talk about supernatural food! This bread that the angel fed Elijah moved him from a place of debilitating depression, to one of hyper strength. The energy in that cake was enough for a journey over a month long!
Did you know that God wants to feed you supernatural food too? It may not look like a cake of bread cooked over hot coals, though. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4, NKJV). What He wants to feed you is His word. The Greek for “word” in this verse is rhema, which means the utterance of God. He wants to feed you His utterances. He wants to empower you by speaking to your heart.
At the start of the day, God has a personal word for you. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you. He will communicate intimately with you. He will nourish you with His words. He will feed you… Himself. “I am the bread of life… He who feeds on Me will live because of Me” (John 6:35a, 57b, NKJV).
God loves to satisfy His sons and daughters. He fed bread from heaven to His children living under the old covenant. “Yet He had… opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full” (Ps. 78:23-25, NKJV).
We are no longer under the law as they were. We have entered into the new, superior covenant in His precious blood. His very Spirit indwells our bodies. How much more, then, under this covenant, will He now fill us to the full?
Jesus revealed Himself as living bread from heaven. He is our bread. He is our miraculous provision. When He instructed us to pray, “Give us our daily bread,” He meant for us to ask, each morning, to be fed with new portions of Him: of His very self, of His very heart.
If manna was angels’ food… and what the angel fed Elijah gave him the power to travel for forty days… how much more will feeding on Jesus strengthen you for the day ahead? Supernatural food awaits you. “Get up and eat.”

Have you experienced a sense of being fed supernaturally, as you draw near to God?
We feast well on the Word of God here. But think of the feast we’ll have when we’re all together in glory!

Yes, every time I look at the blazing glory of a sunset or sunrise, or a change of seasons, or witness the magic of a small child laughing. We’ve come to love the Gulf Coast, and feel sure we’ll be fed when we hit Panama City Beach in six weeks or so 🙂 . If we just stop and look around, we are fed every day — Mike

Beautifully, beautifully expressed, Mike. (You must be a writer! 😀 :D) There really is so much wonderful food Daddy God has provided for our spirits, souls, and bodies, in abundance!

I often think of God desiring to give me all He has, His Spirit feeding me on the day to day and then I realize that I have to take it in. So often the Spiritual nourishment is in front of us, readily available to us and we simply don’t take it in. We have to pick it up and feed ourselves. It is something I have been doing much more of these weeks and months. Understanding what it means to be supernaturally nourished and what my role and participation is in this. He provides it, I receive it, eat it and will only then experience the nourishment that it contains. Thank you Jennifer for reminding us of this nourishment that is available to us every minute of every day. Let’s together take it in, lets allow it to digest, lets allow it to nourish in ways that truly empower. Have supernaturally nourished day.

Thank you so very much for those profound words! I like that very much, “let’s allow it to digest.” There really are so very many parallels between physical eating and spiritual eating. You expressed that beautifully. By the way, by what name do you like to be addressed on here?

I love pondering on these things also. Although it is our family blog page I usually am the one writing the blogs. My full name is Marjolein but many call me simply ‘Mar’. But since I live in Costa Ruca the Latinos call me ‘Marrie’

Ah, okay! I like that — “Mar.” It’s wonderful to “meet” you! <3. You can call me Jenn if you like 🙂

a-men to your encouraging comments and to others who follow. He can turn even a sunless morning into internal radiance when we feed on Him. His Word and His Presence and if you are fortunate enough to break bread and remember with bread and wine (or even water). Remember HIM.
