“…From the body of my mother He has named my name.” (Isa. 49:1b, AMPC)
Has this ever happened to you? You heard about a tragedy happening somewhere else in the world, and felt numb to it. However, you then saw the evening news featuring the personal story of someone in the midst of that tragedy – and all of a sudden, your heart was deeply moved for that individual?
What was the difference?
The difference was that you saw a person.
Today, God wants you to know that He sees you. And in the most loving of tones, He is speaking your name.
Sometimes, we have an impression of Him that imagines Him as peering down to earth from Heaven, only taking in the macro picture. Looking through these lenses, we humans look smaller than ants, just dots barely visible on the map. After all, there are masses of us. Droves. Hordes. Multitudes. Surely too many to keep efficient track of us all.
He wants to gently let you know that this a false concept of Him. Yes, He does see the big picture. He sees the entire massive tragedy in every hurting sector of the globe where catastrophe is transpiring right now.
However, He also sees the personal story. He sees the devastating impact on each and every individual affected, even if the news camera never captures him or her. He has an astonishing capacity to both flawlessly oversee the macro and give consummate attention to the micro.
Think about the way your heart is touched with that individual’s grief on the news bulletin. That is the tiniest glimpse of how much your Father cares about you. Your own story, your own triumphs, and your own pain are intensely important matters to Him. Whatever happens to you, He takes it personally.
He knows everything about you in a profoundly intimate way. He has been studying you your entire life. He cherishes every nuance of your personality. He loves your laugh and the sparkle of your eyes. He is aware of what’s on your mind right now. He sees you. And He cares. Oh, how He cares!
You are never, ever, ever lost in the crowd. Daddy has named your name.

How does knowing that you are seen, intimately known, and passionately loved inform the way you life your life today?
In earlier times Jennifer, this was never a consideration or thought. My attention was ME and the world around me. Then in 1977, I look away from all that was before me and the love and Spirit of God came into my life, when He sent a man named Chuck, before me. As years went by, my growth in the Lord and His Word continued. but it lacked something?! One day, the Spirit spoke and I received a glimpse of His plan and purpose for me. This involved my whole concept and understanding of intimacy. Yes, my identity of being His son through Christ Jesus. I have struggle with this continued until my last rebellion just months ago. Now I know, I am special in His eyes. I have truly been redeemed. Amen. Len Wisniewski.

I cherish how patience the Lord is with His process in our lives! How relentlessly faithful! He never, ever stops pursuing us as the ones He loves, does He? How beautiful that you have surrendered to His immense love for you!

What immediately came to mind as an answer to your question are the numerous times I’ve arrived at church (I’m normally first to arrive), paused near the altar, and couldn’t form a single sentence. I’ve come to realize that I didn’t need words; He knew what was on my mind and heart, and my job was just to stop and bask in the quiet of the moment. Such peace, and so necessary. —- Mike

That is so beautiful! Truly, being before Him in silence and deep peace is an incredible gift. So many people, Christians included, haven’t learned to enter into it, and I’m so very, very glad you have!

Thoughts to definitely ponder. Having a Kingdom focus where our Lord in the King of all Kings means that everything that occurs anywhere in the world does come into our thinking and our prayer life, but when you know people personally there is a human deeper heart link. Brothers and sisters in Christ are a big family of care but personally known are like ‘inner family’. Thank you for the truth you shared here.

This is precisely what I’ve been thinking about for the last two days!!! I know the verses about how He knows how many hairs I have on my head and how He knit me in my mother’s womb. But I keep thinking like a I’m a member of Team God – just one of a big bunch of Christians. But He’s been showing me in the last couple of days that He sees ME! All throughout the Bible are examples of how He dealt with people personally-just God and Moses. God and Abraham. God and Jonah. God and Mary. Is there anything a woman wants more than to feel that in a room full of people, the one who loves her has only eyes for her? To know that if she looks up at any moment, he is looking at her lovingly. We each have that with God! And I love that He seems to be confirming His word to me through you. 🙂

Aw, that brought a soft smile of being so blessed by that picture you just painted, and then a happy chuckle of joy. I’m SO glad He is confirming His word to you this way too! Much love to you and Happy New Year, LaRonda!
