“To Him who… brought out Israel from among them, with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, for His mercy endures forever” (Ps. 136:10-12, NKJV).
“An outstretched arm”… Do you get a visual when you read that phrase? If God fills the entire universe, just how long is His arm? Can you picture Him leaning down out of heaven, sticking His arm into the affairs of humankind?
God’s outstretched arm is a picture of His mighty intervention in every matter that concerns us. This Psalm exalts the Lord’s unbreakable loyal love, and the way He works on our behalf as an outworking of that covenant commitment to us. In every single verse, it repeats the phrase,
“…for His mercy endures forever”!
