Peaceful Holiness

“It is true that they disciplined us for a few years according as they thought fit; but He does it for our certain good, in order that we may become sharers in His own holy character. Now, at the time, discipline seems to be a matter not for joy, but for grief; yet it afterwards yields to those who have passed through its training a result full of peace–namely, righteousness” (Heb. 12:10-11, Weymouth).

Take note of the key phrase here in this verse: “a result full of peace.” This is what your Father wants for you. Peace. Real peace. Enduring peace. Peace that the world can’t take away from you, no matter what the external circumstances are. Producing the supernatural peace of God inside of us is one of Holy Spirit’s main goals. He even goes to the extreme of saying that His Kingdom consists of “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17). In other words, if His Kingdom is reigning on the inside of you to the full extent, you will find yourself enjoying these three treasures in abundance.
