Exceedingly Great Joy!

Joy to the world, the Lord has come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing

Merry Christmas, dear one!

Do you remember how John the Baptist called for God’s kids to prepare the way for the Lord? (Matt. 3:3). Jesus was about to show up, and they needed to get their hearts ready. Well, today is another one of those days. The Savior of the world is about to show up in the celebration you hold with your family… so let your heart prepare Him room!

“Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people’” (Luke 2:10, NKJV, emphasis mine).

The angel’s announcement two thousand years ago is gloriously timeless. These good tidings of great joy are for you, today. Joy to the world – joy to you – the Lord has come! I am reminded of the spontaneous response of the wise men when they finally located the One they had been long seeking.

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy” (Matt. 2:10, NKJV, emphasis mine).

Matthew was so intent on expressing the concept of their exuberant joy that he used three different redundant Greek words in this bolded phrase. These men were absolutely overflowing with jubilation.

That’s because the news of Jesus’ arrival into our world, to save us of our sins, is the best news there ever was. Jesus was the fulfillment of their longings. They had been searching so long for Him! He is the fulfillment of our hearts’ deepest longings too. So, in the midst of all our celebratory activities today, let’s make sure to take a pause… prepare Him room… and rejoice with exceedingly great joy! The Lord has come!

  4. Oh, absolutely! This Christmas has been the best–I’m overflowing with gratitude and joy…I’m so aware of His Presence, and yet I just hunger for more. His goodness, His love is beyond defining. His mercies are new every morning, and His blessings more than meet our needs–God’s supply is never short, never ending. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas ❤

      1. 🙂 ❤ You're most welcome–you know the Bible says if we don't testify, the rocks will cry out praise to Him; so I'm not going to let the rocks be louder than I am, haha!!

        I cannot know your God in your soul. May your God grow in you as the God of peace.

        No such being has never revealed itself to me in my heart, not even through any conversion.

        May your God reveal Himself in your heart every day. It is a deserved grace that you can speak of Him to me; because your God loves you and you him so much.

        Jesus Christ is no longer there, his words, through the instruction of his witnesses, in his tradition his slaveons, never convinced me in my heart.

        I looked for the Redeemer, every day in me, from without, his faith remained in me, in himself, that he was God to us, for the forgiveness of our sins, it was his way and does not have to be mine.

        I want to bear my guilt of sin, my cross, for myself without Jesus Christ.

        Your God must love you and you love him, I can’t say anything about that.

        It is important that you believe in Jesus Christ and what he has promised you in your soul.

        I don’t give up anything, my life is a gift to me.

        I think your God is your greatest blessing, he is with you every day of your life.

        It is very important that he loves the good people who really and truly can believe in him, the one God. What a mercy.

        Your god will never give up on you, never. Because you can ask something and pray from him.

        I thank you with all my heart, with my soul, that you have made so much “effort” about me.

        Let it be for you the very best on earth that can be given to a person.

      14. Thank you so much, Hans, you are absolutely right about this! He does, and it makes my life so beautiful. He has come in so close, my favorite moments of being alive have been when alone with Him in deep fellowship. I am truly blessed by this desire from you for me.
