Vessel

“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor” (2 Tim. 2:20, NKJV).

We are all vessels. We will all dispense something from within, pouring out our inner contents into the lives of those around us. Whether we become vessels of honor, or of dishonor, depends on the direction of our hearts. A heart after God, in His masterful hands, will become a vessel through which He can pour His glory. The Father wants to channel His love through our spirits, into the hurting individuals He has strategically placed in our lives.

Take this a step further. The Holy Spirit did so with me a few years ago. In His beautiful, still, small voice, He spoke to me. He whispered, “I want you to be a vessel of My love towards yourself. I have trained you to yield to Me as I pour My love through you, to others. Now I want you to learn to let Me pour My love through you, to you.”

What we sometimes don’t realize is that God is actually asking us to partner with Him in His initiative to love on us personally. We are not just passive recipients of His love. He is calling on us to actively cooperate with His desire to lavish us with His love. Oftentimes we do the opposite, partnering instead with the enemy and heaping insults, criticism, and abuse on our own souls. Sometimes we do not even realize how much we are hurting His heart by doing so.

You are the one He loves the most. You are the apple of His eye, the treasure of His heart, the longing of His soul. Make a decision today to yield to His initiative to love on you tenderly. Offer yourself as His vessel of honor, His vessel for loving on you, His precious child. Imitate His gentle touch in handling yourself. Emulate His affectionate voice in speaking to yourself. Love the one He loves, just like He does!

Why is it easier to show His kindness to other people, than to ourselves?

  1. This question requires me to see the Spirit to search my heart for the true motives that often lie hidden or disguised. When I allow, the flesh desires me to be kind and compassionate, that I may perceived as “good”- this is all pride! The enemy then tries to convince me that their is “no good thing” in me, therefore, I have NOTHING to give others. When I allow the Spirit to love and be kind towards others, I clearly seen the rewards and blessing that come from the Father alone. Unless the motive of kindness be of Jesus, our efforts may fail. We so often believe that we do no deserve God’s kindness and love. Amen
Jennifer, what do you say in this matter ?

    1. Thank you for your sharing, Len. I do believe that “Apart from You, I have no good thing,” including inside myself and through my life. We are indeed nothing without Him. But with Him!! He does such beautiful things through us! He has taught my heart that I am worthy because He has made me worthy by His precious blood, and because of it, I am worthy of His kindness and love and everything that royalty receives. Purely as a gift of grace. Thank You Lord Jesus!

  2. God gives love freely, if we open or heart to accept it. It is up to us then to pass on this love to others, and invite them into deeper relationship with Him. Just as you encourage every day on this blog.

Thank you for this encouragement to open ourselves up to receiving the rich and boundless love God pours out.
