From the very beginning of time, God put into our hands the power of naming. “Whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.” The same is true today. You have the power to put a name on your reality. Whatever you call it, that will be its name. That will be its identity. Every day, we are faced with opportunities to name people and situations. The names that we choose have an impact beyond what we often comprehend.
For example, if a bill comes in the mail that you don’t have money in your bank account to cover, what are you going to name that situation? “Impossible”? “Hopeless”? “The Hole I Will Never Crawl out of?” What if you instead name it, “Provision about to Manifest”? “One More Testimony in the Works, of Daddy’s Faithfulness”? “The Newest Opportunity in My Life for Jehovah Jireh to Show off His Goodness to Me”?
Think about it. You were made in the image of the One who spoke, and it came to be. He put life and death in the creative power of your tongue too. What words will you choose to frame the situation you are facing?
Whatever you call it, that will be its name.
God’s Word has power- He says “let there be light” and there is light. My word? Not so much. If I say “let there be light”, nothing happens, unless I flick a switch! I could declare myself to be the Queen of Ethiopia, and identify as such. But unless my words are grounded in reality, they have no power. I could declare myself a billionaire, but belief isn’t enough to translate into reality.

Very true, my brother! And how wonderfully powerful it is when we speak what HE is speaking! The richest of blessings to you 🙂

So true! Our words have power! As said above not in the fact that we ourselves have the power to make something it isn’t, but we definitely have the power to speak life or death, light or darkness!
A few years ago I encountered someone who struggled with debt and finances. I felt God telling me to speak life into this person’s situation. So instead of using the negative sense like one would be tempted to (ie: you need to get your priorities straight and start saving) I simply prayed over them thanksgiving! I thanked God that he was leading them to a place where they would have wisdom with their money. I prayed that he would show them areas that they could save. I thanked him for every dollar he provided for them, and asked him to open their eyes to see all his provision. Immediately these people began sensed God directing them to tithe, something they had never done before. Also they found many ways to save in areas they had been previously wasteful! I was completely encouraged that without even giving one piece of advice, God could turn your situation around through prayer and my speaking life over them!

What you say and how you name is vitally important. When I was told my name meant ‘fairy’ this was not a blessing but a ‘child’ thing but later when someone told me my name meant FAITH. By naming it truly made it a goal to aim for.

Yes! It does have that beautiful meaning, in Spanish. God has released to you deep faith, in giving you such a precious name!
