God has set things up so that we can find Him when we reach out for Him. He has made Himself easy to discover. This reminds me of a dad playing hide-and-seek with a toddler. The delighted father “hides,” leaving a leg or arm sticking out so the gleeful little one can quickly come running to him. The child cackles gleefully as Daddy rewards her search for him with an engulfing, laughing embrace. What joy both of them take in this exercise!
Our Abba leaves unmistakable clues in our trail to help us find Him too. And how it fills His heart to overflowing when we pursue Him, running into His awaiting arms!
He set us up for this. Before giving birth to the universe, He looked ahead through all that was yet to be. He examined the times and seasons of every single century that was to come. He determined exactly what the best location would be for your placement – both on the timeline of history and on the atlas of the planet. He was focused on planting you in a setting that would stimulate you to seek Him… and find Him! He knew exactly what would work best for you, personally and individually.
He was exceedingly purposeful in His placement of you. He made His precise decision “so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him… He’s not remote; he’s near” (Acts 17:27, MSG).
He has made Himself accessible. You can reach out, and your fingers will brush up against Him. Maybe not physically, but your spirit will touch Him. He’s right there.
This is His guarantee (emphasis mine):
- “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8a, NKJV).
- “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened” (Matt. 7:8, ESV).
- “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you…” (Jer. 29:13-14a, NKJV).
We have a Daddy who hides Himself in plain sight, that we might find Him. One who sets us in exactly the right place and time, that we might discover Him. If you are yearning for more of Him, He will never, ever leave you groping around in the dark. He’s so very, very close, waiting to be sought after. He longs to be found by you. Longs to sweep you up in His laughing, engulfing embrace!

What is one specific way that God has set things up for you personally, in such a way that you would find Him?
He knew that I would have to exhaust all of my reliable survival mechanisms to the point where I became so desperate, I would eventually surrender and allow His Love to pierce my humbled heart.

I found the phrase “He set us up for this” compelling. If we look over our lives, we all can see direct ways God uses to stay in touch, and we can see His hands in a sequence of events that may have taken years, but brought us to where we are in the present. Quick example: some 30 years ago, I was diagnosed with a prolapsed heart valve. By itself, nothing horrible, AS LONG AS I keep the stress down! Which led to the importance of developing quiet time, which gave God basically an open door to do with me as He wills. We may not see it until later, but He always helps us through the darkness of a moment so that we find a greater light. — Mike

James 4:8a describes my relationship with my Father. The closer that I draw myself to Him in reading, studying, praying, worshipping.
