Jesus, Your Personal Intercessor

Praying in the fog

“Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.” (Rom. 8:34, NET)

Jesus is praying for you right now. According to verse 26 of this chapter, so is the Holy Spirit. We are not talking about a quick, cover-your-bases prayer. This is no “Please bless Johnny” email shot off hastily to the Father. This passage describes inexpressible groanings of intercession. The Spirit of Jesus doesn’t do anything without all-consuming passion. His prayers for you well up from the very depths of His core. He intensely cares about your wellbeing and your future.

Have you ever wondered what He prays for you? Actually, He has made many of His prayers for you accessible, in His Word. Every prayer that you can find in the Bible, is one of His prayers for you. For example, Jesus and Holy Spirit intercede this way on your behalf:

If it’s a prayer and it’s in the Book, then you can rest assured that it’s His revealed heart of intercession for you. With inexpressible groaning, He is praying that you would experience the immeasurable depths of His love. That you would be strengthened on the inside. That you would be filled with very real hope. That you would taste of His immense power. That the eyes of your heart would be granted to see Him clearly and know Him profoundly. That you yourself would personally experience the oneness He shares with the Father.

His Spirit breathes into your own spirit that these prayers are His desires for you. When He gently convinces you in this way of His heart for you, what great assurance of faith becomes yours! You can then join Him in praying these transformational words over your life.

He intercedes for you this way unceasingly. He is praying for you this very moment. What a powerful thing it is to join in agreement with His prayers!

Give it a try! “Daddy, as Jesus is asking for me right now, I also ask in agreement with Him, that You would fill me with the knowledge of Your will…”

  2. My church has been focusing on Romans. While we haven’t quite reached the 8th chapter, I appreciated this look at the power of prayer. I am praying this morning that God will guide my writing while I search for words to describe a young girl’s faith walk and baptism.

  4. Easy question to answer after a long, frustrating day– “Don’t try and do anything magical, son. Just go home, stay there, catch your breath, and come back sharp tomorrow!” Monday is almost done, and God is good 🙂
