“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” (Heb. 7:25, NKJV)
It bears repeating – Jesus is earnestly praying for you in this very moment. This is part of His role as Savior. The intercession He continually makes for you and me, minute by minute, hour by hour, is saving us. His prayers are saving us from the attacks of the enemy. They are saving us from today’s temptations. They are saving us from the pull of the world, saving us from our sinful nature gaining the upper hand in our lives. They are saving us from whatever adversity is threatening to snuff out our thriving. Jesus is able to save us to the uttermost.
Now, there is an extremely important secret to Jesus’ prayer ministry on our behalf. That is, that of His intercessory position. “The only begotten Son… is in the bosom of the Father…” (John 1:18, NKJV). He is in Daddy’s arms. He is nestled into Daddy’s chest. This is the position from which He prays for you. He is so intimately connected with the Father that His prayers for you flow right from Daddy’s heart. So in this way, the Spirit of Jesus “makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Rom. 8:27, NKJV).
What an exquisite example for us to follow! Do you realize that Daddy is inviting us up on His lap too, for our own personal prayer time? He says, “Come be in My bosom. Come connect deeply with My heart. Come drink of oneness with Me. As you commune with Me, My prayers will flow through you. Breathe in My presence, breathe out My prayers.”
Daddy has never, ever intended for prayer to be burdensome. Instead, He designed it to be a time of rich fellowship. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters…” (Isa. 55:1a, NIV)
